What is Breakfast Church?
The straightforward answer is that it is church, but while eating breakfast together. We gather in community to eat, share lives, and continually encourage each other in learning to worship in deeper ways.
Tables are one of the most important places of human connection. We shouldn’t be surprised, then, to find that throughout the Bible, God has a way of showing up at tables. In fact, it’s worth noting that at the center of the spiritual lives of God’s people in both the Old and New Testaments, we find a table: the table of Passover and the table of Communion. Tables continue to nourish us both physically and spiritually even today.
who is invited to the Meal?
Breakfast Church is for anyone who has ever felt broken, angry, doubting, or as a misfit. It is for anyone who has ever struggled with addiction or is struggling with addiction. It is for anyone who has ever felt lost or alone. Lastly, Breakfast Church is for anyone who is curious or would like to experience a deeper sense of connection and community.
When Food is More Than Food
Breakfast Church includes eating together as a central element, alongside preaching and Bible reading as core discipleship habits. Worshiping around tables nurtures a deeper sense of community. We are aiming to deepen our faith as we gather on common ground.
Each month we will focus on one set of scriptures together and we will engage it in different ways, hopefully finding new facets of revelation together. We will ask questions of the stories and of the biblical context. We will then reflect together where we resonate as individuals and as a community with the stories. During the month we will “get messy” together with the scripture through art, music, mission, poetry, yoga, and possible games. Join us on the second Sundays at 10:00am for great conversation and great food!
